Biography

Joseph has been active in sport, health, nutrition, fitness and physical labor demands  throughout his life from an early age.  Nationally competitive in endurance and contact sports, active in outdoor adventure pursuits, community groups, craftsmanship trades and experienced with animal care & training, he chose a liberal arts course of study, completing a B.A. in Fine Arts as a sculptor from Wabash College in northern Indiana in 2000.

While studying the human experience through the history of visual communication from cave markings to contemporary advertising, he enjoyed working physically with materials and processes in the studio the most.  He focused his study both in the human figure and our relationships to the spaces around us, working in metal, clay, plasters, gathered natural materials and spatial installation.

Life after degree found him returning to his earliest interests in animal experiences, communication, training, behavior and life in wide open outdoor places.

His travels as an adventure tour guide in the western US, Coastal Alaska/Canada & Europe, include mountaineering, glacier & river rescue training, trail running, whitewater rafting, grounds crew for hot air balloon launch/recovery, learning the art of Falconry (caring for and training with many species of hawks, owls & falcons) and learning to be a pack leader for hundreds of working Alaskan Husky Sled Dogs serving as their caretaker, nutritionist, vet tech and athletic trainer and trail musher.

After a few falls, the constant journey and active living landed him a chronic back problem.  He began a regular yoga practice in 2005 taking a fresh look at his diet.  Corrective postures, progressive awareness of breath and steady steps towards strengthening key areas all began his journey in deepening his understanding of the mindbody while reworking bad habits in both posture and thought that had manifested in unhealthy conditions in soft tissues throughout the body.

In 2008, he began his studies in holistic health to heal his strains and pain. He has been practicing in a number of environments since 2009 and full time since 2013.

When working intuitively with his 17-year old, retired Alaskan sled dog, Joker, in efforts to extend his already amazing longevity of health and eventually to  ease his dying process at 21 years, he discovered deeper intuitive methods, while in communication with the animal, working in non-verbal, non-linear, meditative communication methods;  a wonderful parting gift given by his personal working animal guide and companion friend of nearly 2 decades.

This period led him to his focus and studies in the John F Barnes Myofascial Release Approach across the country with clinics in Malvern, PA and Sedona, AZ.

As an expert in his craft, along with studies in Therapeutic Touch and Subtle Energy with Peggy Fuhs in Paoli, PA., this fascial release work has massively expanded the possibilities into new dimensions incorporating training in Cranial, Cervical, Thoracic and Pelvic Conditions; Energy Work, Prenatal, Canine & Equine methods.

While all other previous studies and experience provided critical palpation abilities, the development of  a personal working style, a number of valuable industry skills and technical ground work, he feels the principles and techniques of this approach are unmatched to anything previously learned.

As a faithful student to the bodywork trade school histories in holistic health, handed down from our earliest wellness methods since Hypocrates, where surgery and the earliest pharmacy methods were not present, Joe’s various massage working environments forced him to blend these two worlds.

The result is an authentic healing approach and treatment method that reaches deep into the body, with a touch and massage that both feels great and is highly effective.

There is always room for you as a client to journey deeper in any direction, depending on what your life demands, health goals and massage preferences are without chaining you to temporary results, but rather freeing you to help treat yourself.

Come see us as you choose or need a helping hand in healing as life happens.
